So I am currently 3 days into the 3 week’s tour of my boyfriend. Till now the tv provider has fallen out, the electricity of the tv broke, the cats threw up all over our carpet and I’ve yet to make my own food. Unless you call instant noodles, food. We are going good, real good.
Normally I don’t mind when he is going touring, as its normally for a short weekend, but this 3 weeks thing isn’t that much fun. I am a spoilt brat and am used to coming home to homemade food every night.
Luckily for me, I’ve still got Grumpy. He has been a very good fellow this week and been behaving on the lunge line. No more running like a loony tune which was quite the issue for a while. Tomorrow he will be receiving his first ever sports massage. It’s going to be quite interesting to see if he will mind someone touching his body in that way as he is not, for example, a very fan of brushing. We shall see!
I also wanted to update you guys on the new saddle pads from Horsegear called Belezza. I don’t think I’m the only one who’s been wanting the beautiful saddle pads of PS of Sweden and Equestrian Stockholm. Those saddle pads are so beautiful, but I just can’t find myself spending so much money on a pretty saddle pad. Now Horsegear has launched a straight up copy of the PS of Sweden ones. At 34.95,- I think we can all say that the price is a bit more friendly. Currently, they’re available in 5 colors over at Epplejeck. If you buy them now you even get 25% one item.
Aren’t they pretty?
Have you had a great Sunday?
Today I wanted to tip you about a saddle pad that is great underneath mono saddles. For those that do not know what a mono saddle is: it’s a dressage saddle that has a single flap, to give you closer contact with the horses back. Having only a single flap means that it’s really hard to attach your saddle pads anywhere as the girthing system is set up differently.
Ever since I bought my new saddle, I’ve had some issues with that the saddle pads have been sliding when riding. At the beginning of the ride they lay ok, but in the end, they have a tendency to slide back because I didn’t know how to attach them.
Small disclaimer: Sliding of the saddle pad can be because of an ill-fitting saddle, so please keep this in mind if this is happening to you.
As most saddle pads have the standard system where you attach them to the girth leathers, I decided to go looking for one that would attach them to the D rings on top of the saddle instead. To my rescue came Le Mieux with their pro square cotton saddle pad. This one attaches the pad to the saddle with their straps on top of the saddle pad instead as you can see on the image below here.
I must say that I am super satisfied with these pads, and will probably only buy these moving forward as it was the only ones I could find with such a system. I bought mine with a 25% discount at Horze , making them 47 euro a piece. They are made out of thick cotton and come across very sturdy and of good quality. Best of all, they do not slide underneath my saddle.
A little tip from me to you.
Bucas is launching a new product in their Recuptex /therapy line. For those that haven’t heard anything about this line, you can read about it HERE.
So what’s next in line?
A new saddle pad. This is meant to warm up the horse’s back quicker when starting to ride and make it slowly colder when your done. This will avoid the horse from getting back ache and stiffness.
The funny thing is, I can’t find any information about it other then THIS page on the Bucas site. I can’t find the price, not the launch date either. Maybe someone else has the info?
I do love my Recuptex rug and so does Grumpy, but I don’t know if this is something I really believe in. Won’t the back become to warm and sweaty? Will it affect the saddle? I don’t know if it’s far fetched, but leather and heat doesn’t go to well together. I guess we will have to wait and see.
They could have at least made the design a tiny bit more interesting. I know they are going a long the lines of the branding colors, but with all the other fancy saddle pads you have out there nowadays, I have a feeling most people won’t buy this.
What do you think?
If you live in the Netherlands and have managed to avoid the whole Bucas Recuptex hype, then you literally must be living under a stone.
Now Harry’s Horse have created a saddle pad with the same idea. It is meant to have 3D ceramic inside that provides heat waves that will relax the horses back and works against inflammations.
To be honest I have no idea if it works or not, but seems interesting. Considering Grumpy’s back is bad, such products always catches my attention.
The saddle pad can be bought over at Epplejeck for 44.95 euro.
If you have tried it, please let me know your thoughts about it!
Long time no see, live’s been pretty busy the last two weeks hence why the blog had to suffer, but now its back on track.
Surfing around the internet I saw that one of my favorite brands is now for sale in the Netherlands. Hypostore has started selling the brand Equestrian Stockholm.
Equestrian stockholm is a brand thats been super smart with their marketing, creating beautiful content and sharing it on the internet like Pinterest, Instagram and so forth. They’ve also focused heavily on influencer marketing which is now really starting to pay off. Their products is something fresh in the quite stuffy Dutch market. Clean and smooth lines going hand in hand with great quality. The only thing that I don’t like is the Scandinavian price tag which I think a lot will find to high. Not a lot of people is willing to pay 80 euro for a saddle pad. Nonetheless their beautiful.
1. You’re going to have blisters on places you thought wasn’t possible.
2. It does differ what underwear you use. Using lace? Ouch.
3. You’re going to skip having vacations to pay for medical bills and other stuff for your horse.
4. When you finally have an amazing day riding, the next is probably going to be shit….
5. People are going to give you “advice” based on something they heard 20 years ago or outdated info.
6. People that ride great are going to be timide and people that ride OK will be arrogant.
7. You’ll buy new blankets for your horse instead of new jeans for yourself.
8. When you’ve finally learned something new, you’ll have a lifelong list of other things you need to learn riding wise.
9. You’re washing machine is going to be full of horse hairs from the saddle pads.
10. Eventough you’ll be tired as hell after a long day at work or school seeing your horse is going to make you happy.

Some people do throwback Thursday, while I seem to be doing Ridebad Thursday. Today he didn’t really want to do much, so I just warmed up his muscles and let him shake of the muscle pain from yesterday. Yesterday’s lesson was pretty hard, so he deserved a lighter day today. I’ve started looking back on the previous weeks and so far I’ve come by grumpy monday( he is totally pmsing every Monday) and then Ridebad Thursday, however the Thursday’s are more my fault as it’s the day of the week that I’m the most tired. He was a right drama going into left canter, standing still, turning around and la la la. At the end he did it, but boy was it hard work. Can’t wait till the day were I laugh of how dumb this issue was and that it doesn’t exist anymore.
I totally forgot to take photos today, so only got these:
So happy with my new green saddle pad from Global equestrian. It’s not the best quality, but for 10 euros it’s ok.
At least 3 times a week I wash the hoofs of Mr.Grumpy and thereafter put on the hydrahoef from Epplejeck. It’s like a hoof oil, but still provides air and moist to the hoof. It prevents that the hoof crumbles, which is something Mr Grumpy has issues with, hence why I also give him biotine plus. It smells super nice as well, which is a big plus.
Tomorrow it’s finally Friday, can’t wait!
Of course when you’ve given yourself a shopping ban and have absolutely no money, you get an email that Epplejeck has sales on with pay for 2 things, get 3. I don’t really need anything besides competition shirt and jacket, but as a shopping crazy woman, there are of course things I wouldn’t mind to have.
Aint I colorful? haha
