Bucas is launching a new product in their Recuptex /therapy line. For those that haven’t heard anything about this line, you can read about it HERE.
So what’s next in line?
A new saddle pad. This is meant to warm up the horse’s back quicker when starting to ride and make it slowly colder when your done. This will avoid the horse from getting back ache and stiffness.
The funny thing is, I can’t find any information about it other then THIS page on the Bucas site. I can’t find the price, not the launch date either. Maybe someone else has the info?
I do love my Recuptex rug and so does Grumpy, but I don’t know if this is something I really believe in. Won’t the back become to warm and sweaty? Will it affect the saddle? I don’t know if it’s far fetched, but leather and heat doesn’t go to well together. I guess we will have to wait and see.
They could have at least made the design a tiny bit more interesting. I know they are going a long the lines of the branding colors, but with all the other fancy saddle pads you have out there nowadays, I have a feeling most people won’t buy this.
What do you think?
You know that feeling when you lay down in bed after changing the sheets? That lovely warm and clean feeling.
I wonder if Grumpy felt the same way today when I put on his clean winter rug. Hopefully he can appreciate the cleanness as much as me. Just such a shame that tomorrow I will come to the stable and there will be various poop stains on it again….
I bought this Bucas rug for Grumpy last year, which I do truly enjoy. The only thing is that it does rub a bit on his mane, so need to find a way to implement a little fake fur there. If anyone got tricks or tips on how to fix it, please let me know!
By the way, I’ll leave you with some important information. Right now its 123 days till 1st of march. Hopefully by then we will be back to warmer times again. I.cant.wait!
I think we can all agree that this summer has been pretty much insane. And considering it likes to rain in the Netherlands I’ll try my best not to complain about it.
This weather has made me buy two things I never thought I would buy. Or I didn’t buy them, boyfriend was kind enough to go to the store while I was at work. So all props to him
First thing on the shopping list was a fly mask. Normally Grumpy doesn’t care to much about flies, but this year their exceptionally bad. As a fly mask newbie I had no idea what to buy, so I went for the mask below from Bucas. It’s the freedom fly mask which costs about 14.95 euro. Grumpy got a small head for a horse so he has size medium. They run rather big.
The second item he picked up was the Naf Electro lytes for electrolytes. Grumpy hasn’t sweated so much lately, so I have a feeling he is missing a bit of salt. It was the only one they had left at the store, so no idea if it’s great or not, but we shall see. He had no problem eating it and the packaging is easy to use. Costs 14.95 euro as well.
Hopefully these items will make Grumpies life a little better. He seemed to already enjoy the mask. No flies for us.
As I often start my posts about the weather, can someone explain to me why it’s suddenly winter again? I didn’t sign up for this!
So, now that that’s out of the way, we can talk about horses.
Sometimes when you can’t do something yourself it’s ok to ask for help. Tonight Grumpy went on the longe for the first time at the new stable. But because he reacts so much to my anxiety for every single little thing it was better to have someone with us that would make him used to the space without any anxiety. Luckily I have awesome friends that are willing to help out even when the weather is far to cold. Ivonne was the hero tonight and Grumpy didn’t get scared once. Thank you so so much!.
Afterwards we battled the scary room and after a while it wasn’t so scary after all. Grumpy is a horse that needs guidance and calmness, which I need to learn to provide. It’s a good lesson for myself to remember to breath.
Maybe we should do a breathing course together. Haha
Someone is enjoying his new power cooler from Bucas. It’s going to be his stable rug for when it gets a bit warmer.
Have a nice weekend!
Time is flying by at the moment. Last weekend was my birthday weekend, so a lot of time was spent with friends and family instead of blogging.
In the meanwhile Grumpy has settled into his new home well. He is being a lot happier and relaxed at the moment, which makes me feel happy and that my decision to move was right.
Today we had our first lesson at the new stable. Was definitely needed as my riding had gone south the last week. It was a bit harsh going from riding a lot of group lessons to having to decide every ride on my own. Too used to having someone tell me what to do, but now we are on our way and will try to do private lessons twice a week, as long as the wallet can afford it.
Homework for this week is to make quicker decisions on what to do when he lift his heads up and try to control his shoulders more plus being a consequent rider. So that’s going to be what I will work at this week.
Happy Monday to you all. We are one day closer to the weekend. Wohoo
The joy of having a Zangersheide is that they can be quite weird and bloody when dealing with them.
Grumpy is generally a very secure horse, but the he has his moments where I start wondering if he has severely hit his head.
Last week someone left the poopscooper in the middle of the arena and mr thought this still standing thing was out to get him! “Hell no lady, I am not going over there!”
Then today after riding I walked with him to his stable when he suddenly stopped and wouldn’t move. As no one was around us I really couldn’t figure out what was wrong. So I stood there for a second and then I realized that someone had put a rug on the floor that normally didn’t lay there….. a woman had to come and move it for him to walk by it. Haha.
I also stood cleaning his leg when someone opened a door and he decided to run for it. So there I stood with my oilbrush in one hand and tried to grab for his tail. Oh oh. All I can do is laugh. As he stopped five meters further as he realized he was then alone.
Who else has a horse like this?
Today I was meant to come home from New York. But a long story short, because of miscommunication from the flight company I couldn’t go. So I flew to Norway and back home again the same day. Luckily my boyfriend was there to pick me up and we spent the weekend doing nice things together.
Therefore I decided that today I was going to chill out. Ride Grumpy, give him a nice overhaul and clean my tack without worrying about what the clock said. Was so nice to just hang about and not have to rush. He was feeling nice and fresh after the weekend, so we had a nice ride to.
I wish I could have days like this at the stable everyday, but then I gotta win the lottery. Won 20€ yesterday, so I’m a step closer to my pension now. Haha
Hope you have a nice evening!
If you have followed my blog for a while you would know that I really like the Recuptex rugs from Bucas. I bought mine last year because Grumpy was struggling a lot with stiffness, which definitely became better with using the rug regularly.
The only downside to the rug is that I do find it to warm to put on after training as your horse keep sweating or for use in the summer. There were quite a lot of people mentioning this to Bucas and they seemed to have listened. They have recently released a new version of it called Light. The only main difference on this rug compared to mine is that the sides are made of Mesh, so it’s a very breathable rug that will still keep the blood flowing. Definitely a smart upgrade of them. If you want to buy it, it’s available at Dochorse or HERE for 160,-.
It’s Friday, yay! The best day of the week, besides Saturday and Sunday. Haha
Today I had my first private lesson again. Well not first one, but the first one in a long while.
As Grumpy is now building muscles again I want them to grow as steady and straight as possible. If that makes sense. And lately I’ve noticed that I fall short on basic knowledge which is hard to build if you only follow group lessons. So moving forward we will probably do a private lesson every second week.
But ooh what was it fun! Suddenly you have a horse that walks trough it’s body so much better. And not only that, he wanted to work as well. I caught myself laughing in the middle of it(when I had time to breath that is. Haha), just because of the way he felt. Can’t wait for the next on now!
Hope you’ll all have a good weekend!
Have you ever heard about Falpro rugs? No? Me neither until a couple of month ago. For the last few years Charlotte Dujardin was sponsored by Bucas, but she has now switched over to Falpro. As I’m always intrigued by brands that we don’t have in the surroundings I wanted to take a closer look to the brand.
At first glance it looks a lot like the rugs from Horseware. They have several good looking rugs and you can always add a liner to them to make them warmer in the winter. However as I haven’t had one in my hands I can’t say how they feel quality wise, but I’ve heard their really good quality, but tend to be rather heavy. They’ve also got extras like halters, saddle pads and travel boots.
There is a few things I really like about this brand which I wish Bucas would adopt to their lines. Number 1 is the fact that the surcingels is fastened on the outside of the rug. On the new Bucas rugs these are on the inside. Which means that when the horse lays down they go directly into the skin of the horse which cannot be very comfy. Number 2 is that most of the stable rugs comes with a soft fleece neck which won’t damage the mane and number 3, all the outdoor rugs have flash stripes on the front and back so your horse will light up in the dark if there were to come a car.
At the moment it doesn’t seem that you can buy these rugs in the Netherlands, but you can buy them online HERE. The prices are at the level of Bucas and Horseware.
Have you ever tried one of these rugs?
