Turning circles

Today was the normal lunge day for Mr.Grumpy. At the moment he is being lunged twice a week so that he get his movement in without putting pressure on his back.

I was all excited that that I was going to film how he is moving now compared to a couple of months ago. Unfortunately someone with blonde hair forgot that it would be really dark outside before I even managed to get to the stable. So the video will have to wait.

He is overall moving a lot better at the moment. Once a week I do it with lungehelp and once a week not so that he will learn to relax his neck without help. So far we are moving closer to the ground(his head that is) every week, which is really interesting to see. As I couldn’t take any photo of it, here is a little vitamin tips instead.

During the summer Mr.Grumpy became a hairy monster and I didn’t understand why. One of the things I changed was his biotine vitamins. I came across the brand Equistro on the vlogs of Jill Huijbreghts. I’ve also seen it work it’s wonder on another horse at the stable.  Nowadays Mr.Grumpy looks so good and the hairs are kept at a minimum plus his hoofs are so much better.

You can buy it at several stores in the Netherlands, but you can find it the cheapest at Agradi. One pot costs 48euro, which seems a lot, but it lasts for two months instead of one month like most vitamin pots.

Horsefitshop – Biotine Extra review

A while ago I showed you my new vitamin purchases from Horsefitshop(vitamin e-biotine extra and magnesium). I decided to buy these products because they were significantly cheaper then my normal NAF products, in hope that they would be just as good.

Meh.

Didn’t go as well as I had hoped.

Just as a clarification, I did not change anyththing in his food or excersize regime during the time trying this product. As I didn’t notice much different with the vitamin e and haven’t given the magnesium a try yet, this review will only be about the Biotine extra.

So what happened? One month in after starting with the product from Horsefitshop, Mr.Grumpy suddenly became super hairy and his hooves became much weaker then normal. Hence, the product didn’t work at all. With NAF his coat and hooves quickly became much better then normal. For those that haven’t used Biotine, it’s a supplement that is great for a horses with problem coats and hooves.

Based on this I quickly went back to NAF Biotine last week and I am already noticing changes, all his hairs are coming off again. And no, it’s not based on the weather as its been the same shitty weather for a while now.

I generally don’t like writing bad reviews, but when a product really doesn’t work as this one I don’t want other people to waste money on it. Mr. Grumpy and me will hold on to our NAF products instead from now on.

0 out of 5 grumpy horses for this product.

HorseFitShop

A month ago I received an email from Epplejeck that they had set up a sister company called Horsefitshop.com. For those that doesn’t know it, its an online shop for all things healthy that you’re horse might need, from stuff for their coats or food supplements and so forth.

My horse normally uses Vitamin E and Biotine Plus from NAF, however I noticed that the products from the Horsefitshop was significantly cheaper than the ones from NAF. Normally I would never let money be the decision maker, but after checking the contents they were more or less the same, so I thought I would try to order from Horsefitshop this time instead.

I really like the design of the bottle/container, however I find it a shame it doesn’t come with a handle, so that they are easier to carry.

Vitamine E :  As Mr.Grumpy isn’t the youngest player around anymore, he gets a bit of Vitamin E for his muscles. I opened it to check how the smell was and I almost felt like eating it like candy, it smells delicious vanilla or something in that direction.

Biotine Plus: As mentioned before, Mr. Grumpy becomes a hairy bear in the winter, a lot of hair which needs to come off at some point when we now come closer to the summer. Normally he has had some issues with letting it go, but after I started giving Biotine his coat has become so shiny and nice. The hair was off in less then 2 weeks. I also give Biotine for his hoofs as these are not always that great. I’ve now given it for 3 months and definitely notice that they have become stronger. Super happy with that.

Magnesium: I’ve actually never given him Magnesium before, but after reading that its good for stress horses I thought I would give it a go. Mr.Grumpy can easily get stressed if there are horses or things around him that he doesn’t have control of. Magnesium might help him take a bit of edge off and make him stress less, and considering its a product that he will just pee out if he gets too much I figured it was worth a shot.

Will give the products a shot and come back with a review. All products can be bought here.
