The best equestrian black friday deals

Ola ola ,

I never used to care about sales before I moved to the Netherlands. For those that doesn’t know, there is this running joke that the Dutch are greedy, and I guess I’m becoming one.

Luckily there is this one day a year that literally makes people like me scream hurrah. Sounding very materialistic now? Oh well, means more money to buy my next horse. Or so I tell myself at least.

So what am I talking about? Black Friday sales of course. The sales where you get to buy what you have been wanting for so long. Maybe a new rug? That cap or those boots? Here you go, the best deals I’ve come across (these all ship internationally):

Harry’s horse Exceed saddle pad

Ola ola,

If you live in the Netherlands and have managed to avoid the whole Bucas Recuptex hype, then you literally must be living under a stone.

Now Harry’s Horse have created a saddle pad with the same idea. It is meant to have 3D ceramic inside that provides heat waves that will relax the horses back and works against inflammations.

To be honest I have no idea if it works or not, but seems interesting. Considering Grumpy’s back is bad, such products always catches my attention.

The saddle pad can be bought over at Epplejeck for 44.95 euro.

If you have tried it, please let me know your thoughts about it!

Stable tip

Good evening,

You know that feeling when your horse have been outside with his raincoat on, rolling around, having fun and then he/she comes in and you have to hang the rug over your other rugs which is hanging on your stable door? Making them all dirty as well.

The drama.

….

I actually stole this tip from a stable friend who had hung up one. A rug bag for your stable door.

I bought mine from QHP a couple of weeks ago and it’s proving itself very useful. It’s super easy to click on your door and you can still slide the door open. The one on the picture above is currently carrying 3 different sweat rugs(yeah let’s not get into why I have 3 different ones), all staying nice and clean while the dirty rain coat can hang on top.

Here are some different options:

QHP – 21.95 euro

BR – 25 euro

HV Polo correction pro top

Ola Ola,

It’s innovation time again. This time it’s coming from HV Polo with their correction pro top.

This top is meant to remind you to keep your shoulders back and your back straight with putting a slight pressure on it.

Interesting.

I’ll be the first to admit that I could use something like that. Whether or not it works I don’t dare to say, but my favorite breeches are from the HV polo pro range, so I know the top will definitely be of good quality. It comes in a breathable material and is figure slimming for those of us with a few extra pounds.

Can be bought at Epplejeck for 70 euro. There is a normal version as well as a show version.

Have you tried it? Does it work?

Is your horse coughing?

Ola ola,

Let’s start this post with a disclaimer. If your horse is coughing and you don’t know why, you should go to the vet.

Last week the Netherlands decided to become a tropical paradise with 30 degrees and sun everyday. This was all fun and games until Grumpy decided he was going to start coughing his lunges out.

In case you don’t know, coughing is really bad for horses as it can rip the lounges apart or create long lasting issues. It’s therefore important that you deal with the issue quickly. In this case I knew Grumpy didn’t have a virus as he’s had this issue before. When it gets to warm in combination with dust he starts coughing.

Normally I call the vet and get a dose of Ventipulmin, but at the lovely cost of 150 euro all together I was hoping to find something else that would work. A stable mate recommended NAF respiratory boost to me, and I figured that I had nothing to loose so on I went to the shop to buy it.

And it works! Even within two days he was significantly better and now it’s almost gone. For a liter bottle you pay 50 euro which is a lot less then 150. Definitely worth a shot for those with horses that have dust allergies or bronchitis.

Harry’s Horse Magnetic boots

Ola Ola,

Finally and then I mean finally is the equestrian world starting to innovate more and more. Out with the old stuffy thoughts and in with the new ones. Now people just need to adjust their brains to all these new products and we are good to go!

Not so long ago Harry’s Horse launched a new boots with magnets. This is a protective tendon boots which is great for horses who often gets stable feet, for transporting and so forth. The magnets in the boot increases blood flow which again can heal injuries faster. Whether this is scientifically proved, I’m not sure, but I’m just happy to see brands trying out new stuff.

You can buy them at Epplejeck for 79.90€ for a pair.

Materialistic happiness

Ola Ola,

Hope you are having a good evening!

Me and the boy have just been out for dinner. Now I’m on the sofa with a proper food coma.

Today I received my new saddle pad from HV Polo. I can’t remember the last time I bought one, but since I got a gift card for my birthday I felt it was time for something new. Complete materialistic happiness. I’m obviously not the right person to ask, but I think grey looks really good on Grumpy.

The saddle pad is the HV polo Geri and can be found it loads of different colors. I bought mine at Epplejeck who has currently 20% discount on most saddle pads.

And then it wasn’t so scary after all

Ola Ola,

As I often start my posts about the weather, can someone explain to me why it’s suddenly winter again? I didn’t sign up for this!

So, now that that’s out of the way, we can talk about horses.

Sometimes when you can’t do something yourself it’s ok to ask for help. Tonight Grumpy went on the longe for the first time at the new stable. But because he reacts so much to my anxiety for every single little thing it was better to have someone with us that would make him used to the space without any anxiety. Luckily I have awesome friends that are willing to help out even when the weather is far to cold. Ivonne was the hero tonight and Grumpy didn’t get scared once. Thank you so so much!.

Afterwards we battled the scary room and after a while it wasn’t so scary after all. Grumpy is a horse that needs guidance and calmness, which I need to learn to provide. It’s a good lesson for myself to remember to breath.

Maybe we should do a breathing course together. Haha

Someone is enjoying his new power cooler from Bucas. It’s going to be his stable rug for when it gets a bit warmer.

Have a nice weekend!

Schockemohle Beta

Ola Ola,

Greetings from a very snowy Netherlands. It’s actually so snowy I don’t get to see Grumpy today. My little mommy heart doesn’t like that, but I know he’s fine(knock on wood).

Yesterday I got up really early to go to the stable before the snow came. Must admit my warm bed seemed like a better idea, but then I remembered I could test out my new bridle and jumped out of bed.

Back in October, Schockemohle released a new set of anatomical bridles. Within this launch there was one called Beta. Since the minute I saw it I wanted to buy it, but I found the price a tad bit steep. However with Black Friday, I found it with 100 euro discount, so I was sold.

The Beta is a special bridle constructed to release pressure around the head, jaw and nose while riding. As I noticed that Grumpy really enjoyed not being ridden by a noseband I decided to look for options and this bridle was one of the ones I came across.

So far I must say I already notice a difference when trying it out. Due to the construction, the bit is laying a lot stiller in the mouth. The leather is really soft and overall the bridle seems sturdy. Only thing I am afraid of is that the bridle will become to big with the leather stretching. We shall see.

Can’t wait to train properly with it. For those interested in it, make sure you shop a bit around on the internet as the prices vary greatly. I bought mine at Horze, which was 100 euro cheaper then the current price of Epplejeck.
