I stretch Mr.Grumpy a little bit everyday. I noticed that I definitely helped his movements while riding. I also do it for his back to make sure it doesn’t get to stiff. Bellow you can see some of the stretches that I do. With a little bit of candy, Mr.Grumpy would bend any way possible.
Do you stretch your Horse?
I find the world of bits incredible difficult, there are so many out there with really random names. I recently bought a new one for Mr.Grumpy that was based on what he had before, but a better quality one. When I stood at the store there were so many and I noticed the shoplady didn’t have much knowledge either. So Maria did what she does every time she doesn’t know something, she googled. I found these info sheets below that I found really helpful. Maybe they can help you to in your search for a new bit. Otherwise I would recommend getting a bit expert to look at your horses mouth, might be expensive there and then, but if you keep buying bits, that’s expensive to. And your horse will thank you for it.
Which bit do you use?
Horseware has recently released a couple of nice youtube videos of some of their team riders, like Scott Brash and Bertam Allen. Definitely worth a watch if you want a look into their lives.
Even tough I love Mr.Grumpy loads, I wouldn’t mind having this one in my stable. I tried finding photos that made his true beauty shine, but I think you need to see him on telly or so, then he is way better looking then on the photos and of course you can see his amazing movements then. Before I bought Mr.Grumpy I always said I wanted an Oldenburger.

He is currently being ridden by Lyndal Oatley from Australia.
In the beginning when I just got Mr.Grumpy I used to search around on youtube for the most informative Youtubers to learn from. Considering I’ve not grown up with horses, nor been a real penny girl I was missing a lot of knowledge like how to clean a horse properly, how to cut his mane and so on. In-between all the garbage videos, cause boy there is a lot of garbage youtubers you can find some that are pretty good. I’ve listed some of the english ones I find useful below:
Dom and Jaimy Schramm from Evention tv has a lot of useful videos regarding all things horse related. They haven’t posted much in a while, but their videos are great for general information like how to load a horse, how to get a fitting saddle and so on.
Dressage Mastery Academy
Natasha Althoff is an Australian Grand Prix rider and her biggest dream is to one day attend and win the Olympics riding on a Frisian horse. Her channel is more riding related and you can find loads of great movies on how to do certain movements with your horse or just how to for example sit correctly in the saddle. Her enthusiasm is really contagious as well.
I do watch a couple of Dutch ones as well which I can share later. If you have any good Youtubers to share, please let me know.
